On 3rd January this year, the drivers and carriers who cooperate with Scandinavian Express gathered in the Qubus Hotel in Gdańsk at the annual training session devoted to setting goals for the current year and to improving work standards.
The main objectives for the current year established for the Fleet and the drivers of Scandinavian Express include further improvement in the timeliness of deliveries, the limitation of damage to vehicles and cargo, reduction in fuel consumption, maintaining a high quality of service.
The main subjects during the training session referred to the following areas: driver working time, cargo security rules, economical driving and appropriate utilization of the fleet, as well as cooperation with the freight forwarding department and the handling of emergency situations. A number of sessions were successfully led by the most experienced drivers, who gave practical tips to their younger colleagues, for example, on how to prevent damage to cargo by properly securing different types of loads.
A course organized by the Technical Supervision Office in Gdańsk on the proper and safe use of transport slings, was a new element this year. Each participant received a certificate of participation in the course, as well as a qualification for operating different types of transport slings.
One part of the meeting which has become a Scandinavian Express tradition, and thus could not be missed, was the announcement of the nominees for the ELITARNI programme, in which exemplary drivers are selected.
Six months ago, our entire team of drivers began an intensive English course EXPRESS YOURSELF, dedicated to truck drivers, and it was now time for the first evaluation of their linguistic knowledge.
The results were pleasingly positive! Being aware of the fact that our team’s ability to communicate with Swedish or Norwegian clients is an important aspect of their daily work, we can proudly say that more than 70% of our drivers have a communicative command of English!
This year’s meeting was concluded with a New Year’s gala dinner.
We would like to thank all the participants and congratulate them on acquiring new skills!
